Claire Elise Boucher,/bu:'SeI/boo-SHAY,[1] was born March 17, 1988. She is known as Grimes. She began her career in the early 1990s. has been described as extending to "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. She has also incorporated elements from electronic music, hip hop, as well as rock. A lot of her songs are based on science-fiction themes and feminist themes. The band has released five albums. Grimes is a native of Vancouver but later relocated to Montreal. She started her independently-based music career in the mid 2000s. In 2010, she debuted two albums through Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. After the signing of 4AD the band gained popularity thanks to Visions which was her 3rd studio album. Visions contains the singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion" which won her an award called the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, came out in the year 2015. Many publications called it the most successful album. In 2020, she released Miss Anthropocene (her fifth studio album). Grimes as well as an actor and judge on Alter Ego's musical competitions performed as a vocalist for Cyberpunk 2077 which was released in the year 2020.
